Joseph "Bud" Shiaro – Chair (St. Andrews), Bud was the Staff Representative for Occupational Health & Safety with the Canadian Union of Public Employees from 1980 to 1997, along with serving one term as Acting National Director, Health & Safety Department in 1993. He spent fifteen years as the Vice-Chair of the Manitoba Federation of Labour Occupational Health Centre, in addition to being a lay member of the Complaints Committee of the Manitoba College of Physicians and Surgeons. He also served as a lay person with the Association of Physiotherapists of Manitoba. Bud is a long-standing volunteer with the Winnipeg Boys & Girls Club amongst other community endeavours. Bud was appointed to the IRHA Board as Chair on April 1, 2000.

Bert Kindzierski – Vice Chair (Arborg), Bert has been Mayor of Arborg for 13 years and served a total of 22 years on town council. He has been Chair of the Arborg and Districts Health Centre Board and served on numerous boards, including the Interlake Development Corporation; the Arborg Chamber of Commerce; the Community Futures Development Board and local hall, skating and minor hockey boards. He is semi-retired from a 30 year career in the transportation industry. Bert and his wife Florence have lived in Arborg most of their lives and raised their five children there. Bert was re-appointed to the IRHA Board on April 1, 1999.

Muriel Alexander (St. Martin), Muriel has spent a remarkable fifty years serving community volunteer organizations and currently holds the position of 2nd Vice Chair with the Northern Interlake Seniors. Her volunteering legacy began with the 4 H Club of Ontario in 1951. Muriel’s professional background includes extensive experience in support services and food services within the health care setting. Muriel has been a member of the IRHA North West District Health Advisory Council and was appointed to the IRHA Board on April 1, 2001.

Jack Cruise (Chatfield), Jack operates a purebred and commercial beef farm and has been a member of the RM of Armstrong Council since 1980. He has also held executive positions on many community boards, including the Teulon Hunter Memorial Health District Board; the Arborg and District Veterinary Clinic; the Lundar Agricultural Society; the Chatfield Community Club and the Interlake Minor Hockey Council. Jack and his wife Yvonne have lived in the Chatfield/Lundar District most of their lives and have raised their three children there. Jack was re-appointed to the IRHA Board on April 1, 2000.

Linda Evans (Riverton), Linda is employed at Vidir Machine Inc. as the Controller / Office Manager. She is very active within the community as a volunteer with Riverton Minor Hockey, the Riverton Millennium Steering Committee and currently serves as Chair of the Riverton Djorfung Ladies Aid. Linda also served as Councilor for the Village of Riverton from 1992 to 1995. Mrs. Evans was appointed to the IRHA Board on August 31, 2000.

Linda Fletcher (Ashern), Linda has served as a Social Worker in rural Manitoba communities for almost thirty years, and is presently employed by the Government of Manitoba, Family Services in Ashern. A long-standing community volunteer; Linda is currently the Vice Chairperson, Interlake Adult Learning Association, where she has been a Board Member since 1994. Ms. Fletcher has also been recognized for her community service on behalf of the Lakeshore Women’s Resource Centre, where she served as a Board Member from 1983 to 1998, as well as assuming the Role of Chair during her volunteer tenure. Additional community activities include volunteering with the Ashern United Church and the Ashern Housing Authority. Linda was appointed to the IRHA Board effective April 1, 2001.

Elaine Henrotte (Lundar), Elaine served as the Coordinator of the Eriksdale Community Resource Council from 1997 to 1999 and is a past member of the Eastshore Ambulance Service in Lundar. A long-standing community volunteer, she has been active with the Meals on Wheels program, the Lundar Justice Committee and with the Palliative Care Program in Ashern. Elaine was appointed to the IRHA Board on April 1, 2000.

Dawn M. MacFarlane (Selkirk), Dawn is in her 11th year as Deputy-Mayor, 20th year on City Council. She is a Director of the Selkirk & District Community Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce. She taught for 25 years at the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School and served 13 years on the Selkirk & District General Hospital Board. She has as well served on a number of provincial boards, and has been active in the community for more than thirty years. She is a lay reader, former warden, and long-time member of St. Clement’s Anglican Church. Mrs. MacFarlane has three adult children and three grandchildren. She was re-appointed to the IRHA Board on April 1, 2001.

Chris Monk (Stonewall), Chris was the Union Representative for the Industrial Wood and Allied Workers of Canada from 1992 to 1995 and prior to that, served for 22 years as the National Representative for the Canadian Paperworkers Union. A dedicated community volunteer; he is currently a member of the Stonewall Regional Library Board, along with his active membership in the Knights of Columbus, the Kinsmen Club and the Stonewall Legion Branch #52. Chris was appointed to the IRHA Board on April 1, 2000.

Duane Nicol (Selkirk), A resident of Selkirk, Duane has served two years with the University of Manitoba Students Union, including one year as Chair of Council in addition to committee responsibilities on Finance, Policy and the Selection Committee. Past volunteer activities include serving on the Board of the Selkirk and District Handi-Bus. Duane is currently the Employer and Community Liaison for Selkirk Supported Employment Services. A graduate of Lord Selkirk Comprehensive Secondary School, Duane received the Citizenship Award as well as two entrance scholarships upon graduation. At the University of Manitoba, he was the recipient of the 2000/01 UMSU Scholarship and was named to the Dean’s List (Honours, Political Studies) in 1999/00 and 2000/01. Duane was appointed to the IRHA Board on June 1, 2001.

Phyllis Olson (Gimli), Phyllis spent over twenty years with Manitoba Health as both a Team Leader and Regional Continuing Care Coordinator. A founding member of the Manitoba Association of Gerontology, Phyllis held various volunteer positions as a Board Member of Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli from 1989 to 1997. Her progressive vision paved the way for the development of the Provincial Home Care Program and the concept of Seniors Resource Councils. A past member of the North East District Health Advisory Council, Phyllis was appointed to the IRHA Board on April 1, 2000.

Donna Rudyk (Fisher Branch), Donna has spent twenty-five years as a Registered Nurse with Health Canada, Medical Services at Percy E. Moore Hospital in Hodgson and Community Health Nurse at the Brochet Nursing Station. Her general duty experience combined with her term roles as Head Nurse, Director of Nursing and Administrator have afforded her the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the challenges that health care providers face in today’s society. Donna has served as union steward for over fifteen years with The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada, while holding offices of Vice-Chair and Chairperson for Manitoba Region for the Nursing Group. She has also served a three year volunteer term as President of the Chaika Dance Club in Fisher Branch and still remains active in the Club to this day. Donna was appointed to the IRHA Board on April 1, 2001.

Kim Warner (Teulon), Kim presently holds the position of Manager, Education Services at Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg. She has several years experience in health care, having worked as an Educator at Deer Lodge Centre, Director of Tobacco Initiatives with the Manitoba Lung Association and volunteer with Klinic Community Health Centre. Prior to this, she worked in sales and organizational development at the Crocus Investment Fund. During her university studies in social work, Kim held various positions researching socio-economic issues, and volunteered in Southern Mexico where she was involved in community economic development work. Kim’s appointment to the IRHA Board was effective April 1, 2000.
