Mental Health refers to a broad array of activities directly or indirectly related to the mental well-being component included in the World Health Organization's (WHO) definition of health: "A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease". It is related to the promotion of well-being, the prevention of mental disorders, and the treatment and rehabilitation of people affected by mental disorders: WHO website 2010

The Interlake RHA provides a full spectrum of specialized community mental health services for all ages. 
Interlake RHA Mental Health Services: 

 Located throughout the entire region in various health offices.

  • Community Mental Health Workers are available for all ages (Adult, Child and Adolescent, Intensive Case Management, Mental Health Services for the Elderly)
  •  Full spectrum Crisis Services are available for all residents in the region:
  • Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
  • Mobile Crisis Services available for both adults and youth 
  • Partner Mental Health Services
  • Canadian Mental Health Association
  • Selkirk & Interlake Support Centers
  • Self Help Associations
  • Manitoba Schizophrenia Society
  • Mood Disorders of Manitoba
  • Anxiety Disorders of Manitoba
  •  Addictions Foundation of Manitoba

Community Mental Health Services

Assessment, counseling, mental health education and referral services are available to children, teens and adults when mental health is a concern affecting home, school, work or social life.

 

Adult Services

For residents of the Interlake age 18 years and older.

 

Child and Adolescent Services

For residents of the Interlake under age 18 years.
Psychiatry and psychology consultations are available in region when necessary.

Intensive Case Management

Ongoing Assessment, counseling, mental health education and referral services, to access appropriate supports to enhance in daily life activities (e.g. housing, work, recreation) for individuals with longer term mental illness.

 
Mental Health Services for Older Adults

Assessment and treatment recommendations for persons over age 65 with mental health concerns and/or cognitive difficulties affecting their daily life activities. Geriatric Psychiatry consultation services are available in region when necessary.

 

Mental Health Promotion and Illness Prevention

Information sessions available to the public and organizations to:

  • Promote awareness of mental health and mental illness.
  • Enhance skills to improve mental health and wellness

Relational Therapy (Couple and Family)

  • Services are offered from mid September to June. 
  • Self referral by calling (204) 785-7716.

Crisis Response Services
24 Hour Crisis Support

  • Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
  • Mobile Crisis Services available for both adults and youth
