Stonewall, Man., June 24, 2011—Every three years, staff and directors at Interlake Regional Health Authority (RHA) voluntarily submit to a review of health care facilities, processes and procedures. This review, by an external organization called Accreditation Canada, evaluates the Interlake RHA against 1,805 nationally established standards of excellence for health care delivery quality and safety. This year, the Interlake RHA achieved Accreditation status reflecting its compliance with addressing high priority criteria, undertaking required organizational practices and collecting information that helps evaluate the Interlake RHA’s performance.
Interlake RHA’s vice-president of planning, Doreen Fey, oversees the RHA’s continuous improvement process. For the past 10 years, Fey has been a surveyor with Accreditation Canada, meaning she travels to health care facilities across Canada to survey their adherence to standards. She has commended Interlake RHA staff and directors on the accomplishment of Accreditation status.
